We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a lovely Year 6 pupil joining our school in Southampton.

The pupil has an EHCP and is a looked-after child. The pupil requires additional support with his learning, communication, independence and day-to-day participation in school life. He has experienced some delay in his educational journey and will benefit from a calm, nurturing adult who can recognise his individual strengths and help him make progress at his own pace.

We are looking for someone who is:

    • Warm, kind and genuinely enjoys working with children.

    • Patient and understanding of individual learning needs.

    • Able to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child.

    • Confident providing 1:1 support while encouraging independence.

    • Able to adapt activities and communication to suit the child's developmental level.

    • Positive, consistent and able to celebrate small steps and achievements.

    • A good team player who can work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.

    • Ideally experienced in supporting children with SEND, although relevant experience and the right attitude are equally important.

    The role

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day, helping the pupil to access learning, develop confidence and independence, engage socially with peers and feel happy and included within the school environment.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference to a child's school experience and development. The successful candidate will be supported by the school and will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and experience of supporting a child with additional needs.

If you are kind, reliable, patient and enthusiastic, and would love the opportunity to help a child thrive, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please note: The successful applicant will be subject to the appropriate safeguarding and safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

    Requirements:

    • Must have a high level of English comprehension and communication

    • Must have 3 months experience of working in education within the UK

    • Must be calm, understanding, confident and friendly

    • Understand the need to provide a stimulating, caring and consistent environment for young children

    • Professional, nurturing and 'can do' approach

    • Commitment and dependability within the workplace with ability to use initiative
